The VEDAS, the spiritual books are still mystery for us. What they stores?, why these books were built?, its core traditional language is so difficult to understand. I am trying to put myself in very brief here and will try to revisit these knowledge banks later again, however, giving the PDF links for our Vedas and other text books below. May be we all can contribute towards Sanatan Dharma & our VEDIC GYAN with the ether knowledge we had, and can restore our ancient glory, which we had a few hundred years ago.
There are lots of different stories on ancient books (Veda, puran and upnishad). These books are given by Gayatri (the Brahma’s ManasPutri) even before the mankind came into existence. The meaning of Veda is Knowledge or knowing. In ancient world, these were not in text books, but were always transferred verbally from a Teacher (guru) to its students (shishya). Basically there are three main categories of spiritual texts :
VEDA
There are four types:
It’s the oldest veda (or spiritual book) of the world. There is no proof of any other book older than RigVeda, in any of the religion across the world.
This book has the spiritual & secret process to call Deity for specific purpose. It has the praise poetry for God and also, it talks about the Geography of the earth and nature. Some of the hymns and verses are still recited in Sanatan Dharama in various auspicious occasions.
Please refer to this link to read this Veda(Rigveda_Sanskrit).
It’s the second among four Vedas. It talks about sacrificial formula and contains the verses necessary for rituals. Basically, it has the process to do any form of auspicious activity like Yagna (Yugya) and being said in liturgy (Mantra).
There are two main versions (samhita) of YAJURVED:
SamVeda is the poetic form of RigVeda. Many liturgies (mantras) from the Rigveda have been incorporated in this veda as a collection of melodies (saman). This veda has been said originated from the sun and the Taittiriya Sanhita states that Brahmans (priests) have been created from the Samaveda. We can say like, if RigVeda is a word, SamVeda is its song.
Athrav-Veda is the fourth Veda. It accomplishes of powerful paranormal liturgies which can convert any impossible to possible. Ayurveda is as well a part of this Veda. With 20 Chapters & 5687 liturgies, it is the biggest Veda among all four.
